The effect of the flow gas within the rotary kiln

The flow of the gas within the rotary kiln has a great impact on not only fuel combustion and heat transfer process but also normal operation of rotary kiln and output and quality of products.

The direction of gas within rotary kiln is flowed from kiln end to kiln tail. There are natural ventilation and forced ventilation to drive this flow. Natural ventilation is to make gas within kiln flow by using draught produced by chimney while forced ventilation is to drive gas within kiln flow by using blower fan. At present, the latter one is adopted by most rotary kiln.

The gas within rotary kiln is flowed along the length direction of kiln from kiln end to kiln tail, the temperature and composition of gas varies continually, so the flow rate is ever changing. On one hand, the flow rate if gas within kiln has an impact on coefficient of convective heat transfer, therefore affects heat transfer rate and output and heat rate of kiln. One the other hand, it also influences the production of fly ash and consumption coefficient of raw material. As the flow rate is too high, heat transfer coefficient will increase, but the contract time of gas and material will be reduced; overall rate of heat transfer may be reduced; waste gas temperature will rise, increase in heat consumption and fly ash. On the contrary, as the flow rate is low, the output will be significantly reduced with low heat transfer rate.
Generally speaking, good mechanical equipment has high production efficiency. Lowering production cost helps produce high quality products, which is the function of rotary kiln. Scientific and reasonable operation is considerable influencing fact in the production of rotary kiln. These external facts not only have influence on production quality but also impose a serious threat to service life of rotary kiln. Firstly, study composition of coaly used in rotary kiln to determine operating procedure of rotary kiln. For worse coaly, the over-low burning rate of fuel in the period of material burning will result in insufficient supply of heat. Meantime over-calcining of raw material also may reduce calcining quality of material. Therefore previous shall be competed strictly in accordance with standards.
Secondly, analysis on constituent ratio of materials calcined in rotary kiln: if ratio of raw material is unreasonable, material will not be stabilized in the calcining process, resulting in non-uniform calcinations of material in rotary kiln. As the requirement for precision in this stage is stricter, the worker shall pay more attention to operation.
Furthermore, do well in air supply of rotary kiln. For insufficient air volume inside the rotary kiln, material will produce large amounts of fumes in the calcining period, and the discharge of fume will bring away a lot of heat, which increased heat consumption of rotary kiln directly.
